Private RRG Cabin | Hot Tub, Game Room, Views
About the property
2 bed/1 bath cabin with modern farmhouse design. Both bedrooms have queen beds. We have a futon that folds out and can sleep 1 adult or 2 children. If you don’t care for sleeping on a futon (some guests have mentioned that there’s a metal bar that goes down the middle) there is plenty of room for an air mattress! There are lots of places to relax with an outdoor fire pit, picnic table and Adirondack chairs. Enjoy beautiful undisturbed old growth forest from our back deck! Cabinets, countertops and stair railing were designed and built by local craftsman. The hot tub is available for guest use (NOTE: there may be some fine sand sediment on the floor of the tub but the water is clean and treated! We love kids! Still Water Cabin is family friendly with toys for babies, toddlers and young children. We have lots of board games, a 42" tv, WiFi, and a beautiful forest to explore. There is a small creek directly behind the cabin and a large gathering area with a picnic table for meals in the front. We also welcome pets. Please register your pet when you book if you plan to bring them. **Brand new 2-person hot tub and new cabin cleaning crew as of December 2025.** Plenty of flat parking available in front of cabin, no fee. Still Water Cabin is located in a RURAL area. There are several steep gravel roads on the way in. All-wheel drive vehicles are not necessary to make it (we frequently drive it in our minivan), but we do recommend them in bad weather. The back roads have no lights, several of the road signs are wood, and we HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking in before dark. ***GPS IS UNRELIABLE IN THE AREA AND DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE ADDRESS TO THE CABIN.*** We will send out a pin with the location, but you may have to rely on our written directions to get there. We love this type of adventure, but if you are uncomfortable driving on steep gravel hills and off the beaten path without Siri as a guide then it may not be for you. The cabin’s water is provided by a cistern. There is a Brita water filter in the refrigerator and we encourage guests to bring extra drinking water. WINTER WEATHER NOTICE: Still Water Cabin is located in a rural area with several steep hills near the cabin. These roads are not treated or cleared after winter storms, and we do not recommend trying to make it to the cabin when snow, sleet or ice is predicted. Guests who have tried to come in bad weather have been stranded on the side of the road, even those with four-wheel drive and good winter driving skills. We will do our best to keep you apprised of the weather in the area and contact you if/when bad weather is predicted; however, we do not live in the area and ask that you also look into it before you leave for your trip. Please note: This is a cabin in the middle of the woods, and you can expect to experience all good and bad that comes with that. We offer a peaceful getaway where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounding forest. We spray regularly for bugs and keep mouse traps out but have seen an increase in both with the warmer weather. We try our best to be accommodating hosts but cannot fully control this type of wildlife in/around the cabin. Don’t forget to bring bug spray! Some guests have mentioned that there aren’t many outlets throughout the cabin. If you have lots of electronics/devices consider bringing a power strip with you. Still Water Cabin: the perfect place to "get away" tucked away peacefully in a serene old growth forest. Amazingly, it is still close to everything-- 4 miles from Natural Bridge State Park and minutes from Red River Gorge, close to Gorge Underground. Family and pet-friendly. Hot tub and game room included! Come, be inspired by KY writers as you have the space to escape, reflect and rejuvenate! "I come into the peace of wild things... I come into the presence of still water."-- Wendell Berry.

The cabin was beautiful and exactly as described. The check in and check out instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Hot tub was also great! The location is quite private and secluded which we loved, but be warned that like many roads in Red River Gorge it is gravel and quite narrow. We were pros at it by the end of our stay, though 😊
Mary was very responsive and kind.
While the stay was nice due to the activities that were in the area, we found that the pictures did not align with what the cabin looks like. The cabin felt smaller and did not have views like it described. The gravel road leading to the cabin had several pot holes that needed to be filled. Upon arrival, we noticed several cleaning issues which caused us to feel uncomfortable with our stay. Water pressure was terrible, the house remained hot, stains in the shower, items from past guests were left behind, and we found a roach inside the cabin. This was not what we were expecting for the price that we paid which was outrageous. The only reason we really did stay was because it was one of the few places that allowed dogs. While these people were very friendly and communication was kept, we did not feel comfortable and safe in this location at all.
